City Blue

If you go to Mombasa, don’t just go to Pirates Beach. Stay in Mombasa comfortably on a friendly budget and visit all these places. There are so many things you can do on a friendly budget. Now, copy this weekend itinerary. Do not say Mombasa is not improving; it’s you who don’t know things.

 City Blue Creekside Hotel

SGR-1000 When you arrive, enter Matatu and go to town. Then take a tuktuk (150 bob) to the Cityblue Creekside Hotel.

Cityblue Creekside Hotel is a budget hotel with great views and amazing pizza. Accommodation for two people sharing a room for two nights is like 14k. That means Ksh3,500 per person a night. It is at the creekside, so not directly at the beach.

The rate is for bed and breakfast. I must say they have good customer service. If you are full from breakfast, you can chill in the lobby as you plan your day. You can stay in Mombasa comfortably for your holiday.

Fort Jesus

First thing! Go to Fort Jesus. It sounds cliché, but trust me, with each new guide and on different days, you will love it. There you will be told the stories of Ibn Battuta, the Portuguese, the Arabs, and the British. If you want, you can buy water and cassava crisps. The entrance fee is Ksh 200.

Ask a guide from the museum to give you a tour of the Mombasa Old Town. This by far has always been a fave! Give him a tip like Ksh 200. It good gesture to stay in Mombasa comfortably.

Liwaza Lounge

The Zanzibar doors, the oldest post office, the oldest cafe, the oldest mosque, the white people’s restaurants (colonization things), and the vibe are.

From there, walk to Liwaza Lounge in Makadara. They have a fantastic juice bar! That coastal heat! I don’t remember how much the juice was, but it was affordable.

While in the area, if you prefer dessert, then RS Luxury Desserts should be your go-to place. It has an Instagram aesthetic with tasty desserts to back it up. People are really taking pictures. Remember, this is a walking trip.

Yuls or Club Volume

From there, take a tuk-tuk and go to Yuls for the afternoon. Many years ago, Yuls had the best pizza, IMO. But the last few times, I’m not interested. However, you must not eat pizza; their other foods are so good! And their ice cream still tops the charts. So go ahead.

You will also get to enjoy lots of water sports here! So don’t just sit; a 2-seater jetski is Ksh 4,200 for 20 minutes; a banana ride is Ksh 900 per person; etc. You also want to go for a walk on the beach. Also, if you are tired, enjoy the DJ, have a breeze, and have a drink.

Mama Ngina drive – Mombasa waterfront

Late in the evening, go back to your hotel, freshen up, then go to Mama Ngina Drive (Waterfront) or go to club volume in Shanzu. Here, it’s just saying goodbye to the vibes, to the people for whom this is their haven, to good music, to seeing the ferries come and go, to enjoying the sea breeze. Entry is free.

Is the day over or not? Even Ksh 3,000 is not overly expensive per person. You can finish a week, stay in Mombasa comfortably with this friendly budget.
