The New liked Twitter feature that enables instant control over replies

The New liked Twitter feature enables instant control over replies.

Twitter users can now limit replies to followers or those users mention in tweets.

Twitter turned to a more controlled setting that lets users control who can reply to tweets.

The company said on Wednesday that starting in August 2020, everyone will be able to use these settings so unwanted replies will be blocked in meaningful conversations.

“We developed this feature to make conversations easier to follow without interruptions from uninvited replies, not censor them,” the company stated.

“You can still engage with a Tweet with limited replying through a Retweet with a comment, which is now more visible from the Tweet detail view,” a Twitter statement added.

The newly liked Twitter feature

Before a user Tweet, they can choose who to reply with three options: 1) everyone (standard Twitter, and the default setting), 2) only people you follow, or 3) only people mentioned.

Tweets with the latter two settings will be labelled and the reply icon will be greyed out for people who can’t reply.

People who can’t reply will still be able to view, Retweet, Retweet with Comments, share, and like these Tweets.

“These settings help some people feel safer and could lead to more meaningful conversations, while still allowing people to see different points of view,” the company said on its website.

The company noted that they will continue to update the Tweet settings based on people’s feedback.

“In the next few months we’re planning to add an option to invite more people to the conversation after it starts, clear notifications for when you’re invited to join a conversation using these settings, and more ways to see the entire discussion,” it said.

“Everyone can now use these settings on the platform for iOS and Android as well as twitter.com. “
