SGR Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya

Early handover of SGR stalls. Government push for an early handover of the operations of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) appears set to stall as Kenya Railways and Afristar, the Chinese company appointed to run the project talks reach deadlock.

The Chinese firm has refused to handover the SGR stalls to the government on 2022 but insists that the original deal of 2027 is adhered.

The Chinese firm says it will handover the stalls from 2027 but not 2022 as wanted by the state. The firm added that the early handing over was not part of the deal.
